 PRESS RELEASE

“A Stamp for Marvin”

Thousands of Marvin Gaye Fans Respond To Worldwide “A Stamp For Marvin”
Campaign of Support For Commemorative U.S. Postage Stamp

(Los Angeles) – Thousands of fans have responded to the world wide “grass roots” campaign of support launched two months ago by the Motown Alumni Association (MAA), Los Angeles chapter, to get a commemorative U.S. postage stamp for legendary Motown singer Marvin Gaye.  Letters, petitions and post cards have been received from all across the nation as well as around the world, including Britain, Norway and Sweden.
The campaign is called “A Stamp for Marvin,” and the committee that is starting the campaign hopes to see their dream come true in time for Marvin’s 65th birthday on April 2, 2004.  They have received over 400,000 signatures and letters in their goal to reach the required 1 million by September 15, 2003.
“The fans are loudly saying they would like to see a postage stamp for Marvin,” .  The campaign will end September 15th, in time for a meeting of the Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee, U.S. Postal Service, scheduled for October. During the last month of the campaign, fans have numerous options to express their support to the USPS Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee so that Gaye can get the stamp on what would have been his 65th birthday on April 2, 2004.
Do your part and send your letter in today. The late soul singer was killed by his father almost 20 years ago.

As a former client and friend, I encourage all fans to write a letter of support to the citizens stamp advisory committee in Washington, DC.  Letters should go to:

Dr. Virginia Noelke
Chair
Citizens Stamp Advisory Committee
475 L’Enfant Plaza SW, Rm. #5670
Washington, DC 20260-2437

If you would prefer, you may email us your letter to Dr. Noelke and we will print it out and mail it to her. You can simply email us at:Abdul-Jalil [mailto:info@superstarmanagement.com]To quote Marvin, “Let’s Get It On!” and circulate this note to everyone that you can.
